Archived Updates

October 20th, 2023

The game getting reviewed this week is a short but fun little platformer called Steamworld Dig!

October 13th, 2023

The game being reviewed this week is a short puzzle platformer called Sugar Cube: Bittersweet Factory. It's not the best, but it's also far from the worst.

October 6th, 2023

Today's update looks back on an easier time with a review of Popcap's classic game, Dynomite! Deluxe!

September 29th, 2023

The update for this week is a review for Raft, a sandbox survival game set in a world that's almost entirely underwater!

September 22nd, 2023

This week's update is a review of an older game called Pretty Good Mahjongg! As you can probably guess, it's a game about matching tiles, and it features a bunch of unique ways to do so!

September 15th, 2023

I hope there aren't many arachnophobes in the audience: today's update is a new review for a silly little game called Kill It With Fire!

September 8th, 2023

Moving the update schedule to Friday definitely helped - it was a lot easier for me to put together this week's update! Speaking of which, the update consists of a review of Pilgrims, a neat game about a wandering Tramp who needs to catch a bird.

September 1st, 2023

After thinking about it, I realized that my original plan to update every Wednesday was based around my IRL schedule from a few years ago. A lot has changed since then, and I think trying to stick to the old system was getting in the way of everything rather than helping. So, I've decided to update on Fridays from now on, as this should fit my time better.

That said, today's update is a review for a neat little puzzle game called Sticker Craft!

August 24th, 2023

A day late but not a dollar short: this next update brings a review for an artsy little game called Wurroom!

August 16th, 2023

Today's update is a review of Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold, a science fiction themed first person shooter from the mid-1990s. This took a bit longer to write than I'd expected - apparently I'm a bit out of practice since I haven't done a review in a while. Hopefully I can get back in the groove for next week :) !

August 2nd, 2023

After months of tweaking, writing, and editing, the new version of God Minded Gaming has finally arrived! This massive update changes a lot of things, and attempts to make things cleaner and clearer.

The biggest changes are to the Christianity section, where I rewrote several pages to correct mistakes or use less confrontational wording. I've also removed the forums, as nobody was interested in using them.

Additionally, the Useful Links page has been completely redone to list and promote a number of new sites that are definitely worth checking out.

From here on out, the plan is to try and get back to weekly updates, fill the missing terms in the glossary, and generally continue to improve the site for everyone who visits. I'd also like to go back and re-review a few games, as their reviews are either out of date or come off as a little unfair.

February 8th, 2023

It's time for another update, and this week it's a review for OMORI, an unusual RPG about a young boy who is struggling to cope with a dark secret.

This is also going to be the last review for a while, as I'm further along with the new updates to this website's script than expected and I'd like to concentrate on finishing up the changes. I expect to have everything done by March 1st, so I'll see everyone then!

February 1st, 2023

Today's update is a new review for a cute little platformer called Marisaland Legacy.

January 25th, 2023

This week's update is a two for one deal: I've gone back over and tweaked my earlier review for the Room, as I spotted a few mistakes that needed correcting, and I've also uploaded my review of its equally unusual sequel, the Room Two.

January 19th, 2023

This week's update ended up slightly late, as I wasn't entirely happy with the way I'd worded a few things. Today's new review is for Castle Crashers, a classic beat 'em up by the people behind Newgrounds. I've also rewritten the review for Chime Sharp, as the original was a bit harsher than it probably deserved.

January 11th, 2023

Greetings from 2023! It's a new year, and I've got some big things planned for it. To begin with, I've been receiving a lot of great feedback from readers over the past month, largely about issues with the site's navigation or some problems with the ambiguity of certain reviews, so I'm going to address these and bring some old pages up to date. I'm hoping to have this finished by April, but in the meantime, I'll still be posting new content using the current system. Which brings me to today's update: my review of Hexen: Deathkings of the Dark Citadel, an expansion for Hexen that continues the story of the second group of heroes.

December 21st, 2022

This week's review is for a horror-themed first person shooter called FEAR: First Encounter Assault Recon. It's an amazing game notable for the unique and realistic way the AI responds to the player's actions, but the large amount of gore may turn people off.

December 14th, 2022

I wasn't able to make my usual deadline last week, and today's update explains why: I've uploaded my review of Persona 4: Golden, which is probably the longest review I've ever produced for this website. There's a ton of things to cover in this JRPG style murder mystery, so it's not surprising that I broke the 3,000 word barrier writing about it!

November 30th, 2022

This week, I've reviewed one of the most famous VR games of all time: Beat Saber!

November 23rd, 2022

The review for today is for Doom 64, a slightly obscure sequel to Doom II: Hell on Earth. As the name suggests, it was originally released for the Nintendo 64, and unfortunately, it's also no longer considered canon as the series has moved on without it.

November 17th, 2022

This week's update came a little later than expected, thanks to me getting sick over the weekend. The game getting reviewed this week is Nation Red, a fun arcade style zombie shooter. And, I've also released a new article about the Five Solae, which are a set of principles that Protestantism is largely based upon.

November 9th, 2022

Today's update features a review for a real one-of-a-kind project: FreeDoom is a fan made replacement for Doom and Doom 2's content. You can not only use this project's files to play custom WADs without the original Doom games, but FreeDoom functions as two complete games in and of itself!

November 2nd, 2022

This week's new review is for Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, a retro-styled platformer that's more than a little inspired by the NES Castlevania games.

October 26th, 2022

Keeping with the horror-ish theme, today's new review is for Hexen: Beyond Heretic, the second bloody game in the Serpent Riders trilogy.

October 19th, 2022

This week, I've tweaked my old review for Doom (1993) and uploaded the first review for the Room series of puzzle / horror games.

October 12th, 2022

I was hoping for a larger update this week, but alas, writer's block hit and I didn't get as far as I'd hoped. But, I did manage to finish the review for Yume Nikki, an odd little game about exploring a young girl's dreams.

October 5th, 2022

To start off October, aka Scary Month, I've finished a lengthy review for Liquidators, a short horror game that walks players through events that followed one of the biggest disasters in history. I've also tweaked the Glossary pages a little, though that's hopefully not a big enough change for people to really notice.

September 28th, 2022

Lately I've been feeling like I haven't been doing enough, so I've been putting in extra time to compensate. Thus, this week's update adds a review for a hidden object game entitled Demon Hunter: Chronicles from Beyond and a lengthy article about heretics and heresy in the section about Christianity.

September 21st, 2022

Two points of interest this week: first, I've published my review of Escape Goat 2, an excellent sequel to an already great platform puzzler, and I've made a tweak to the review pages. Due to a coding oversight, none of the reviews were showing information about where to find the game's sound track. That's been fixed.

September 14th, 2022

I've just released my review of Donut County, a short but fun puzzle game about gathering up "trash" using portable holes.

September 7th, 2022

This week, I took the time to review one of the "bargain bin" games I picked up a while back. It's called Toaster Jam, and it's a silly little game that could use more exposure.

August 31st, 2022

Bit of a large update this week. First, there's my review of Walkabout Minigolf, a virtual reality golfing game, and then there's a major update to the website's layout system. I've redone how the lists of reviews are displayed, which hopefully makes this website easier to navigate. I've also added a Site Map, which should also be useful.

August 24th, 2022

Today's new review is for a popular indie hit, the Untitled Goose Game. Sometimes, the world just needs a touch of absurd slapstick humor, and this game certainly delivers!

August 17th, 2022

I'm back from a short break with a new review for Deepest Sword, a free puzzle platformer that's been attracting attention.

August 3rd, 2022

Just a small update this week. The main change is that more of the website responds to the light/dark mode settings; there's still some odd bits to update, but almost everything is working properly now. The other major change comes as a result of some anonymous feedback - while a lot of people, myself included, are willing to put up with the odd advertisement in exchange for a free app, not everyone is so easy going. So, I've split the free games list into a list of completely free games and a second list of games that while "free", come with strings attached

July 20th, 2022

Today's new review is for Heroes of Hellas, the first game the Heroes of Hellas series. I've enjoyed this series in the past, so I'm hoping to eventually cover them all. :)

July 13th, 2022

This evening, I've released a new review for a crazy little game called Super Amazing Wagon Adventure and I've also updated the review for Faerie Solitaire with information about its remastered edition. Originally I was going to review the remaster separately, but I think that would be overkill since there aren't that many changes.

July 6th, 2022

Time to look at another VR game! This time it's Cave Digger, a simple but fun game about breaking up rocks, recovering treasures, and getting rich!

June 29th, 2022

I'm taking a break from the Steam library this week to focus on a classic game from the open source / Linux world: SuperTux!

June 22nd, 2022

The game being reviewed this week is AudioShield - a VR rhythm game where you earn points by blocking the beats with handheld shields!

June 15th, 2022

This week's review is for Hunting Simulator, a somewhat simple and arcady feeling game about hunting all sorts of game animals.

June 8th, 2022

Today's update consists of a review for Dig or Die, a crafting survival game that mixes in some base defense style gameplay.

June 1st, 2022

Bit of a large update today! I've released my review of Mega Man X: Legacy Collection Volume 2, which offers X5 to X8 and concludes the Mega Man X series. I've also finished and uploaded a lengthy article about Bible translations. This new article covers everything from which ones are good, why there are so many, and even briefly discusses how they're made.

May 25th, 2022

Another week, another review gets posted. This time I've taken a look at Braid, an old classic indie game about learning from mistakes and how our past can affect the future.

May 18th, 2022

Ready to blast some more invading aliens? This week's review is for Glorkian Warrior: The Trials of Glork, a silly and sometimes surreal Space Invaders-style game!

May 11th, 2022

Another week, another small update: I've added the review for Legends of Solitaire: Curse of the Dragons. It's another tripeaks-style solitaire game, though it feels lacking compared to some of the similar games I've already posted about.

May 4th, 2022

This week, I've reviewed a very unlikely title: Garfield Kart! Who would've suspected that the fabulous feline enjoyed racing?

April 27th, 2022

Today's update is another small one - I've added the review for Chicken Invaders: The Next Wave Remastered. Despite the name, it's not a simple clone of any arcade game, and stands on its own as an eggcellent way to pass the time!

April 20th, 2022

Today marks the first time I've reviewed a virtual reality game! Ragnarock is a fast-paced rhythm game where you smash runes to the beat of Viking-themed heavy metal songs - it's quite a workout! Unfortunately, some of the songs are a bit too crass for me to recommend it.

April 13th, 2022

This week's update sees the release of two new pages. First, there's the review for Shovel Knight: Showdown, which means the entire Treasure Trove collection has now been covered. The other new page is about Sin and Temptation, two key doctrines of the Christian Faith that are often misunderstood.

April 6th, 2022

Only one new page has been added this week - the long overdue review for Car Mechanic Simulator 2018.

March 30th, 2022

Two new pages have been added this week. One is the review of Jewel Quest 3, which finally completes the reviews for every game in the Jewel Quest Pack. The other new page is probably one of the sadder ones, as it's a page for the Christianity section that deals with the results of religious abuse.

March 23rd, 2022

Just a small update this week - I've added a review for Escape Goat, an interesting little platform puzzler where you help a goat escape from prison. Also, just FYI, updates are going to be limited to single reviews for the near future, as I've ended up with a lot on my plate and haven't had much time for gaming.

March 16th, 2022

Today's update features a new review and a new page in the About Christianity section. The review is about Shovel Knight: King of Cards, which is yet another excellent game in the Shovel Knight franchise, while the other page discusses some of the reasons why Christian groups disagree so much.

March 9th, 2022

This week, I've uploaded my review of Quake, a famous, if also quite violent, game from yesteryear. I've also started to upload a new section of the website, one that aims to explain what Christianity is all about in a simple and hopefully friendly manner. Such a section is long overdue, but it's taken years for me to reach a point where I'm confident enough to explain what I believe and why I believe it. Currently there are only three pages of the planned twenty two available; more will be released as they become ready.

March 2nd, 2022

This week, I'm posting a review for a cute little puzzle game called Cats Organized Neatly. I've also tweaked the website's code and images to clear up most of the random things that didn't get updated to the new dark theme. It's likely that there are still some things that don't switch over properly, so I'll keep looking for them and updating them as needed.

February 23rd, 2022

This week's update features a review of Forager, a simple yet complex sandbox crafting game.

February 16th, 2022

Change is here! The big update that I promised weeks ago has finally arrived, and with it, a revamped Dark Theme, a new Discussion board where visitors can chat, and more! Now, there are some miscellaneous things (eg, some graphics) that haven't been updated, so I'll see about touching them up as we go.

Additionally, I also posted a review for 5D Chess, a unique variation of the popular board game that allows you to mess about with time travel and alternate timelines.

Unfortunately, one of the changes is the addition of a small watermark on the lower right corner of all screenshots. I'd wanted to avoid this, but my hand was forced. You see, I generally don't care if people hotlink stuff - I have a wonderful hosting package with more than enough bandwidth - but it turns out that a few game review websites were hotlinking my screenshots for their articles, and that's just wrong. Rather than prohibit all hotlinking, I've opted to force these websites to "advertise" for the website they are getting their resources from.

February 9th, 2022

Today's update features a review for Cookie Clicker, the famous idle game. Also, I have good news on the new tweaks to the website: I'm very close to done now, so it's possible the changes will go live next week!

February 2nd, 2022

Today's news is definitely good! My arm is almost fully recovered, so I can resume using the computer like normal again! On top of this, the new revisions to this website are close to being complete (probably another two weeks, at most) and I've just posted my review of Draw Puzzle, which is a coloring game with an interesting twist!

January 26th, 2022

While the behind the scenes stuff is moving forward slowly (it's a little over half done), I've managed to finish one of the hardest reviews I've ever done. I've been working on the review for Borderlands 2 for months, and today, it's finally ready to upload!

January 19th, 2022

The past week as largely been spent working towards some new changes for God Minded Gaming, but I'm not ready to upload them just yet. But, that didn't stop me from preparing the next review: Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment.

January 12th, 2022

This week, I'm publishing just one review - my thoughts on Jewel Quest Mysteries - so I can focus on some other changes I'd like to make to this website. This includes doing somethings that I've deliberately avoided up until this point, but apparently they need doing.

January 5th, 2022

Good news, everyone! My arm is well on the way to recovery, so it seems that I'll be able to resume playing more "normal" games in the near future! Additionally, I took advantage of the Steam winter sale to browse through the equivalent of the bargain bin, finding a whole bunch of silly, fun games that look like they'd be right at home in a Christian household. But, before I can review them, I have some other stuff to upload, such as my review of Subnautica: Below Zero, the second chilly adventure on planet 4546B!

December 29th, 2021

I was hoping to be further along by this point, but while I didn't finish both pages I was working on, I did release my review of Spider Solitaire Collection, another solitaire game available on the Windows Store.

December 22nd, 2021

Today's update features two new reviews! The first of these is for Plague of Shadows, the second game in the Shovel Knight series, and Drop the Number, a fairly new take on the popular 2048 logic puzzle!

December 16th, 2021

Normally, I try to update on Wednesdays. However, yesterday ended up being one of the worst days I've had in ages. Rather than risk screwing things up, I opted to wait a day before publishing the next review, which is for Giana Sisters 2D.

December 8th, 2021

Lately I've felt like I'm not doing enough. So, I've been pushing a little to try and make up for it. Thus, this week's update comes with two reviews instead of the usual one. The first review is for Gunman Clive 2, another crazy adventure starring Sheriff Clive. The second review is for Simple Solitaire, which is yet another way to play Klondike on your PC.

I've also made a small update to the review for the Microsoft Solitaire Collection to reflect some of the feedback readers have sent me over the past year.

December 1st, 2021

For those who are interested, my arm is improving a little more each day. For everyone else, my new review of InCell VR has been published!

November 24th, 2021

Good news, bad news time. The bad news is that using the mouse aggravates the injury I mentioned in the previous news item. This means that the more a game uses the mouse, the more it's going to make my arm hurt, and the longer it'll take to heal. So, a lot of games are off the table for me right now. The good news is that I've already played through several games, so I have a reasonable buffer to work with while my shoulder gets better. In the meantime, I've just released my review of Dwarfs?!, a neat little arcade game by the developers who made Killing Floor.

November 17th, 2021

Well, that was a bit of an unplanned sabbatical. Between getting sick and enduring a shoulder injury, I've had a hard time working on this site. I'm feeling better, so I'm going to try and resume regular updates again, starting with my review of Night in the Woods.

October 20th, 2021

Things are heating up on this side of the website, as I'm working on new content and preparing to upgrade Thaddeus for Windows 11. In the meantime, today's update brings with it a review of Sonic and SEGA All Stars Racing, a fun little racing game.

October 13th, 2021

I've started work on some special new content for the website, but it might be a few weeks before it sees the light of day. In the meantime, I've just released the review for American Truck Simulator, a surprisingly fun game about hauling cargo across the United States.

October 6th, 2021

This week's review covers Puyo Puyo Tetris, a puzzle game that combines two very famous puzzle franchises under one roof!

September 29th, 2021

This week's new review is for Nightshift Legacy, the sequel to Nightshift Code and the last game in the short-lived series.

September 22nd, 2021

During the past few weeks, I've been attempting to get some lengthy reviews compiled. This has not gone terribly well, as I sort of hit a bout of writer's block trying to put everything into some semblance of order. So, I decided to switch my focus to some smaller games on my to-do list, and here we are. Today's update catches us up to where the normal schedule would've been, as I have three reviews for you. The first one is for Pretty Good Solitaire, a little known but very high quality solitaire card game collection. Next are the Master Levels for Doom II, the second of two official expansions for Doom II: Hell on Earth. Lastly, there's the modern rerelease of Galaga, a popular arcade game that ended up getting mentioned in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

September 1st, 2021

Today's update features a review for Faerie Solitaire Harvest, a unique card game, and a new article answering a somewhat unusual question with a surprising answer: Can you be too young for video games?.

August 26th, 2021

This week's update is slightly late; I ended up getting sick over the weekend and wasn't able to get anything done for a day or so. But, now that things are back in gear, it's time for a new review. This week, it's the original Five Nights at Freddy's, aka the game that launched not only a new franchise, but an entirely new genre of horror gameplay.

August 18th, 2021

Today's update contains only a review for a weird little game called Osmos.

August 11th, 2021

This update is a big one! I've created a review for Doom 3: BFG Edition, and in the process, decided to revisit and tweak my reviews for Doom 3 and Resurrection of Evil, both of which were a bit more caustic than they needed to be. I've also been working to flesh out the glossary a bit, removing many of those pesky "this page uses undefined terms" notices you might see at the top of different pages. I had a little extra fun with the entries for QR Codes and Plushies, so give them a peek too.

August 4th, 2021

It's time for the first August update, and this week we have the review of Dig Dog, a simple little game about a dog who does a lot of digging.

July 28th, 2021

A lot of people are uncomfortable with hunting, but the game being reviewed today features a character who has some pretty extreme views on the subject. In The Deer god, you play as a hunter who got on the bad side of a powerful forest deity.

July 21st, 2021

Tonight's update brings back an old favorite, as I'm reviewing Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords.

July 14th, 2021

One of the internet's earliest celebrities stars in today's review, as it's for The Angry Video Game Nerd I and II Deluxe, a remastered compilation of the two games based on James Rolfe's famous gamer persona.

July 8th, 2021

Life has a tendency to throw off plans, and yesterday was a wonderful example that I'm hoping I don't remember. Thus, this update ended up being a day later than planned, as I was definitely not in the right mindset to proofread anything. But, I caught up this morning, and now the review for stealth-based horror game Granny has been posted!

June 30th, 2021

In this final update for June 2021, my review for the classic game Castle of Illusion has been posted, and I've made a tiny little change to the website to comply with a new standard that's going around. Chances are, most users aren't going to notice this change, but since people are trying to access this file, I might as well get on the bandwagon.

June 23rd, 2021

Time for another trip down memory lane with a review of Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders. This violent First Person Shooter strays from the usual science fiction or military theme, opting instead to theme itself on a more medieval fantasy setting.

June 16th, 2021

It's always a good idea to look back at where we've been, so this week's new review is for Final Doom, a stand alone expansion pack for Doom II: Hell on Earth.

June 9th, 2021

A bigger than usual update this week! The antigrav racer BallisticNG gets reviewed, a new article has been added to the Resources for Parents section, and the page about the computers used for this site has been updated to include changes to Martha's roles and formally introduce the newbie, Giles!

June 2nd, 2021

Today's update brings the release of my review of LEGO Worlds, a sandbox adventure game that's definitely worth a look.

May 26th, 2021

Today's new review is a popular game from the Windows app store: Bingo Blitz. Perhaps the biggest surprise about this game is how much there is going on; it's not your everyday game of bingo!

May 19th, 2021

Last week, things were a little late as it took more work than usual to complete that week's review. This week, the reverse is true, as I've finished two short reviews and released them both. The two casual games being reviewed this week are Chuzzle Deluxe and Coloring Pixels, a Match 3 and a color by number game, respectively.

May 13th, 2021

Normally, I am to post reviews on Wednesdays. However, this week's review of Fallout: New Vegas ended up taking slightly longer than usual to complete. It's possibly one of the longest reviews I've ever posted, which likely explains why it took so long.

May 5th, 2021

Sometimes a series gets lucky and survives by switching to different systems. That's the takeaway from Shantae: Risky's Revenge, which is today's reviewed game.

April 28th, 2021

Today's review is of an older game that's still fairly popular (or at least, popular compared to most of the stuff I've reviewed). Killing Floor is a violent (but very fun) game about fighting mutant freaks in European settings.

April 21st, 2021

This week's review is of Kero Blaster, a "ribbiting" story of an amphibian janitor and their grime fighting adventures.

April 14th, 2021

In May 2020, I announced that the Resources for Parents section was going to get a massive overhaul. This turned into a much bigger project than I'd expected, and I'm pleased to announce that the new revision has FINALLY gone live! In addition, there are plans for more articles to be added in the future.

Today's update also brings my review of Cradle of Persia, the final tile-matching game in the Cradle Bundle.

April 7th, 2021

Howdy howdy howdy! It's the first Wednesday of April 2021, and I'm back and ready to resume posting on here again. I had hoped to have some upgrades and revamps for this site ready by today, but I'm just a few bits shy of reaching that mark. So it'll be maybe a week before they can go live. In the meantime, today does bring the release of my review of 20XX, a Mega Man / Roguelike hybrid.

February 24th, 2021

This morning's new review is for a Steam port of the classic game, PAC-MAN. On a less impressive note, I've decided to take a short hiatus from the weekly reviews. 2021 has been very difficult for me, and the self-imposed deadlines of weekly game reviews isn't helping. We'll return to regularly scheduled updates in April. See y'all then!

February 17th, 2021

This morning's update brings my review of Blasphemous, an action platformer that's as bloody and twisted as it is gothic. It's definitely not for everyone, as it shows what a Christianity without Salvation might look like.

February 10th, 2021

It's Wednesday, so it's time for another review to go live! This time I took a look at an old classic from the early days of home computing: Chip's Challenge. Extra fun fact: the Steam edition of this title is now freeware, so everyone can enjoy it!

February 3rd, 2021

This update comes in several flavors: first, I've taken the time to add several terms to the glossary. There's a lot more to do, so I'll try and keep up with that in the following weeks. Secondly, I've added an FTC Disclosure. This wasn't required, but I've had a few people tell me it might be a good idea, and I can see their logic. Lastly, I've added a review for what is possibly the most ridiculous game I've come across yet. Super 3-D Noah's Ark is a first person shooter with a Christian theme, and it's actually pretty fun.

January 27th, 2021

This Wednesday morning I've released my review of Fez, a somewhat mind-bending puzzle game where your perspective of the world literally changes things.

January 20th, 2021

This Wednesday, I decided to take a look at a rerelease of a few games from yesteryear. Mega Man X Legacy Collection, Volume 1 brings the first four Mega Man X games to your PC, allowing you to relive X and Zero's Maverick hunting adventures.

January 13th, 2021

Seeing as it's the 13th, aka the unluckiest day of the month, let's have a look at an indie horror game entitled Bendy and the Ink Machine.

January 6th, 2021

I've spent a large part of December trying to get things in order, and this included building up a little backlog of reviews. I'll be releasing them weekly, starting today, so that things can stay on schedule for as long as possible. Today I'm releasing the first of these reviews, which is for the surprisingly still popular classic, Wolfenstein 3D.

November 27th, 2020

2020 has continued to make life difficult for everyone, and for me, this has resulted in me spending most of November putting out fires and just trying to make it through another day. Unsurprisingly, this has not only prevented me from playing games, it's made it nearly impossible to write about them with any consistency. At this point, I'm settling for uploading what I have, which is a review for a neat little fighting game called ROBO OH, a time management game called Cooking Fever, and a handful of new glossary entries.

October 21st, 2020

It's been too long without an update, so today I've released not one, not two, but three new reviews to bring everything back up to speed! This week's reviews are for Captain Bible in the Dome of Darkness (an really good DOS Bible trivia / adventure game), Simon Tatham's Portable Puzzle Collection (a set of 39 logic puzzles for everyone to enjoy), and Super Star Path (a retro-styled puzzle-based alien shooter). And now, back to your weekly updates...

September 30th, 2020

This week's review takes a look at Robo Miner, an older mobile game that was ported to the PC.

September 23rd, 2020

This week's new review is for Gunman Clive, a unique platform shooter themed around the Wild West.

September 16th, 2020

Today's update features the release of my review for LOVE 2: Kuso, a real love letter to the simple computer games from long ago.

September 9th, 2020

This update is a bit later than planned, but that's not for lack of trying: I simply wasn't happy with what I'd written and wanted to take some more time to clean it up. Today's review is for a fun but extremely hard platformer known as N++.

August 26th, 2020

This week I've reviewed Stacking, though I can't say that I was impressed by it. There's a good idea there, but it just didn't hit the mark in my opinion. Feel free to disagree with me there.

August 19th, 2020

Today's update is a long-overdue follow up to a previous entry. It's the review for Serious Sam: The Second Encounter. Despite being a separate game, it's considered to be the second part of Sam "Serious" Stone's original adventure, not the second game in the series.

August 12th, 2020

And we're back from a hiatus that lasted just over a month. Today's update brings with it the review for the Treasures of Montezuma 4, a Match 3 game about two lovers lost in time.

July 8th, 2020

Another review has been added! This time, I've taken a look at the popular underwater adventure game Subnautica.

July 1st, 2020

Today's new review is for an old DOS game that's still somewhat popular. Mystic Towers is an isometric adventure game about exploring towers, slaying monsters, and finding treasure. It also has one of the best title themes of any DOS game I know about.

June 24th, 2020

Today's update brings the review for The Forest, a survival horror adventure that, while fun, also holds the record for the bloodiest game I've yet looked at.

June 17th, 2020

My review of Antichamber, a mindbending 3D puzzle game, has been published. Also, there have been a few cosmetic upgrades to the site's scripts; for example, the game review lists are now properly sorted in alphabetical order, even when the title starts with the word "The".

June 10th, 2020

Another Wednesday, another review is released! Today's review is for Katamari Damacy REROLL, a faithful remaster of a very popular (and very surreal) PlayStation 2 game.

June 3rd, 2020

Continuing the streak of an update every Wednesday, the review for the Red Strings Club has been published!

May 27th, 2020

A new review has been released, keeping the weekly update plan going for the third week straight. Today's review is for the Disney Afternoon Collection, a set of six classic NES games you can now legally play on your home PC.

May 20th, 2020

A twofer this week, as two game reviews have been released! These reviews are for a life simulation game called Chinese Parents and an old DOS game known as Hocus Pocus.

May 13th, 2020

This week's update brings with it a new review for Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope! I'd also like to alert readers to another change in progress: I'm going to revamp the Resources for Parents section in the near future, so pages in that section will probably be moved around or even discarded. If you have anything from that section bookmarked, be aware that those bookmarks might stop working when the revamped version goes live.

May 6th, 2020

A new review has been released today: Beat Hazard 2! This is also the start of a new plan for uploading; I'm going to aim for a weekly update schedule, with a new review or other content released every week.

April 11th, 2020

Although today's update doesn't include any reviews, it does include something I've been meaning to implement for some time: the revamped Glossary section! Everything is now neatly grouped into various categories for easier browsing!

March 30th, 2020

Some relatively minor updates today; I found and corrected a handful of bugs with various pages, and updated some others. The next update's going to be a bit of a doozy however, and will probably be ready in a week or two.

February 22nd, 2020

Another day, another update! Two new reviews have been added (Blocks that Matter, Glass Masquerade 2) and a new feature has been implemented. This is something a few visitors have requested for a while, I'm proud to announce that you can now sort the charts listing the reviews by any column! Just click the column's header and the chart will be updated.

February 7th, 2020

Two new reviews were added today: Hollow Knight and Race the Sun. Fans of Metroidvanias will definitely enjoy the former!

January 15th, 2020

Today's update brings a new review (Among the Sleep), a few general fixes, and a new feature for the Dark Mode: some images will switch themselves to conform to the theme you've chosen!

January 1st, 2020

This first update of the new year brings us reviews of DOOM (2016) and Super Meat Boy, as well as a handful of new glossary entries.

December 17th, 2019

Small update tonight: 10 new definitions were added to the glossary.

December 11th, 2019

After months of silence, this old site is ready for action once again! This update brings with it no new reviews or glossary entries, but instead, the entire website has been overhauled. This new layout works better on both desktops and mobile devices, while it also gives you the option of a Dark Mode theme. Behind the scenes, it lays the groundwork for the future of this site. Happy 2020, everyone!

May 23rd, 2019

Two more reviews have been redone to bring them up to the newer standard, and a long overdue review has been added.

May 8th, 2019

Lately, updates have been consisting of little more than rewrites of older content. Today's update continues this trend, but also includes a new review.

March 17th, 2019

This time around, no reviews have been added. Instead, this update involves the release of a new article that will hopefully put some fears to rest.

February 18th, 2019

Two long-awaited reviews have been added, along with a token amount of slang terms defined.

January 26th, 2019

It's been ages since the last update, but it's finally arrived with two new reviews. Here's hoping 2019 sees things get back on schedule. :)

October 28th, 2018

Things are moving along rather quickly, and as a result, two more reviews have been released!

October 23rd, 2018

Several more slang entries have been cleaned up, and one new review has been added.

October 12th, 2018

I've made some changes to try and help me be more productive, and the fruits of this effort are already beginning to be seen. Two more reviews have been added, and some of the existing slang entries (such as the entry for Creepypasta) have been rewritten to help introduce their topic.

September 28th, 2018

As September comes to a close, two new reviews and a small number of slang definitions have been added to the site's roster!

August 31st, 2018

Where does the time go? Although this month has flown by, one last update managed to sneak in under the wire. Three new reviews have been added, and one older review has been touched up to bring it up to current standards.

August 3rd, 2018

It's been a while since there was an update; this is mostly due to July being a rather busy month that didn't leave much time for writing. But, now it's time to catch up, as three new reviews have been added and a bunch of slang terms defined!

June 15th, 2018

Just a small update: one review has been added. Basically, I decided to publish what I had now, rather than wait for another page to be done. I've recently been sick, and thus I didn't get much done. Hopefully I can get a few more reviews out by the end of the month.

May 23rd, 2018

Two updates in one month? Wowza. I don't know how long I can keep this sort of thing going, but I'm going to try anyway. Today's update brings two new reviews to the site!

May 15th, 2018

After an unexpectedly long break, I'm back with three new reviews and several more in progress!

March 19th, 2018

Today gives us the first update since the new system was installed! Two new game reviews are up, and several new entries have been added to the glossary.

February 26th, 2018

This update has been planned for some time, and now that it's finally here, God Minded Gaming will be a much better site as a result. This time the update focuses on what's under the hood, so there isn't much in the way of new content to view. Instead, the rating system has been revised to clear out some confusion, old links have been updated or removed, and much of the code that runs the site has been heavily altered.

Going forward, updates should be more commonplace, and new content should also have a higher quality. There is still much to be done, but now that this transition is complete, the hardest part is over.

January 12th, 2018

The first update of 2018 may contain only one review, but it's a review for a trilogy. Several jargon terms have also been added to the list of definitions.

December 30th, 2017

The last update for 2017 brings with it three new reviews, and a much needed revamp of the Useful Links page.

December 12th, 2017

Today's update brings us three new game reviews and a small sprinkling of new slang definitions to go with them.

November 28th, 2017

Today's update bring with it two new reviews, over a dozen new slang definitions, and a new article discussing the ESRB and their contributions to the gaming community.

November 10th, 2017

I had initially planned for this update to come out last month, but my ever-present attention deficit ohh shiney disorder kicked in and screwed with the schedule. But here we are. This update brings with it a fancy new layout, two new reviews, and two revamped reviews. There's more in the pipeline too!

October 11th, 2017

A small update this time around, though there will likely be a few more during the month of October. This update adds a few new slang definitions and two new reviews!

September 27th, 2017

Thanks to some unavoidable issues in real life, things ended up being delayed by several weeks. However, things are picking up steam again, and this update brings with it four new reviews!

July 3rd, 2017

Better late than never: I had planned on there being an update a few days ago, but things got in the way. So, while this is a few days late, today's update brings with it a new article, one new review, and a number of old reviews that have been cleaned up.

June 14th, 2017

While it's not the update I'd hoped to have, I've managed to make some serious progress on various parts of the website. For example, 23 new slang definitions have been added, a few bugs have been fixed, and a few other things have been cleaned up. Hopefully I'll have more progress to share by the end of the month.

April 14th, 2017

The next site update is here! While it's a little on the small side, one of the three new reviews have been some of the most difficult ones I've done to date. The plan for the next update involves work on the slang glossary and some fleshing out of other sections as well as some new reviews.

March 27th, 2017

Today's update brings with it a number of tweaks to the slang listing, several updated reviews, and new reviews for Alice: Madness Returns, Pony Island, and Nyxquest: Kindred Spirits!

March 1st, 2017

Some more major changes arrive with this update! I've been debating on how to include some new material for some time, and now that I've finally worked out how to do it, I've made some changes to the site's layout to prepare for the big stuff to come. Even better, the new layout doesn't change any of the URLs, so nothing will go missing.

Additionally, this update brings a new review and several rewritten reviews to the site. More will come in the near future!

February 13th, 2017

Just a small update: the reviews for MS Solitaire Collection and MS Jigsaw have been edited, and a number of small bugs have been fixed. For example, the Borderlands review should actually be readable now.

January 16th, 2017

The reviews for Borderlands, Peggle and the Mega Man Legacy Collection have been updated to be clearer and include a little more detail!

January 11th, 2017

A few months ago, I discovered that I haven't exactly been very objective when reviewing certain games. This has led to some odd ratings, among other problems. So, I've been working hard to edit the reviews as needed and correct other problems I can see with the way I've rated things. Today I've uploaded the first wave of changes, which includes some 30+ updated reviews, the new rating system, and other fixes.

October 11th, 2016

Four new reviews have been added! The big news though is that the slang glossary is getting a massive overhaul, and it's about three fourths done. Expect more reviews and the revised slang glossary to arrive before the end of the month!

September 16th, 2016

The first major update has arrived! I've heavily reworked the scripts that run the site as well as tweaked a few things about the rating system.

The biggest change is that I've made it clearer which games are recommended. Originally, recommended games received a GREAT rating while other quality games received a GOOD rating. Now, both are given the GOOD rating while the recommended games are also given a "seal of approval".

August 27th, 2016

Three new reviews have been added, and plans have been made to make September a month of useful updates!

August 7th, 2016

A total of five new reviews have been added!

July 9th, 2016

Things may not have gone as smoothly as I would have liked last month, but this time things are off to a good start as five new reviews have been added and a number of little things have been tweaked for the better.

June 6th, 2016

Just a small update: one review has been added. There are bigger things on the horizon.

May 21st, 2016

It took longer than expected, but the next three reviews have been added and two existing reviews updated!

May 6th, 2016

This update brings with it three new game reviews, with the promise of more to come in the near future.

April 23rd, 2016

It seems like it's been a long time coming, but four new reviews have been added and a few new games have been listed on the Future Review page.

April 11th, 2016

This week's update isn't so much new content as it is making some needed updates to the site's code. Long story short, it was brought to my attention that the way I coded the site wasn't well suited for screen readers and other types of assistive technologies. After looking things up, I've recoded almost everything to address this. Hopefully it helps!

April 1st, 2016

Pardon the long delay there; I ended up having to work on something that was unrelated to GMG and didn't have much time for anything else. I'm ready to resume updating regularly again now though.

3 new reviews have been added, and two existing reviews were updated to reflect some features that have been added since I reviewed them.

March 10th, 2016

While this update isn't terribly big, it's been surprisingly difficult to do. I've reworked a few pages as planned, with the biggest rewrites being the page about the Avoid tag and the page talking about whether or not Christians should be playing video games at all. In the case of the latter, it's been completely redone, and it's far from the thesis paper it originally was.

February 23rd, 2016

This update doesn't add any reviews or slang terms. Instead, it's a revision of some existing pages and an addition of a new page that provides useful links to other resources online. More revisions are going to be coming in the near future.

February 12th, 2016

Four new reviews have been added, and several pages were given a facelift. This is the start of a big upgrade to the site's design, which should prove helpful and be easier to work with.

January 18th, 2016

3 new reviews have been added. I'm moving a bit slow at the moment, as I'm working on improving a few pages and playing through some longer games. There are a few more reviews being drafted already, so it's not going to be that much longer before more content is posted.

December 22nd, 2015

4 new reviews have been added, and I corrected a mistake where some slang entries had been added but not marked as published. They should be viewable by everyone now!

December 11th, 2015

This update adds four new game reviews, three of which are good for a little frightful fun! New slang definitions and a new resource page have also been added, with more to come later on.

But particularly nifty is the brand-new God Minded Gaming Tumblr! Go follow it for gaming humor, posts about what I'm working on next and occasionally some wise words about ourselves and our Lord! You can also use Tumblr's ask, submit and messaging systems to contact me if you have questions or are just have something to say.

November 28, 2015

Well, things got a bit busy and the "big surprise" didn't come about this round. But, it's still a work in progress, so hopefully it'll appear before the next big update!

This update adds five new reviews, including a review of the hot new indie game, Undertale!

Additionally, a handful of slang definitions have been added to the glossary.

November 9th, 2015

This update adds three new reviews, defines several slang terms and adds a new feature: you can now track the site's updates using your favorite RSS reader!

Just point it at http://www.godmindedgaming.com/feed.rss to follow along and be automatically notified of new updates!

Additionally, there is something else big coming down the pipeline, so keep your eyes open for something special!

October 22nd, 2015

It's been an unexpectedly rocky month; I had hoped to bundle more into the next update, but it just didn't turn out that way. This next update adds one review, revamped about section, a little more detail with existing reviews and a handful of newly defined slang terms.

September 29th, 2015

Just cutting it under the wire, but I've finished five more reviews and uploaded a handful of slang definitions. Specifically, I discovered some pages that were missing and filled them in. I'm not sure why they disappeared, but it's taken care of now.

September 21st, 2015

Preparing the next update ended up taking longer than originally expected. Part of this was because I've redone some of the site's code in antisipation of some future reviews, and to make some things a bit more friendly (for example, the note section now appears on the review pages as well as the listings). Included in this update are three new reviews and some slightly touched up images. If all goes well, there will be another update before the end of September.

September 1st, 2015

Now that the site has just over 30 reviews, I noticed that some things were either redundant or not very helpful. So, I've taken some time to revamp the rating system in an effort to simplify things. This also meant rewriting or otherwise editing the reviews to fit with the new system, but it's all finally done. A few other pages were also given facelifts. But overall, things should return to normal now!

July 9th, 2015

Six more reviews have been added, and some random little bugs were corrected. It's probable that nobody else even noticed these bugs even existed, but I don't like leaving anything unfixed.

July 2nd, 2015

Largely just a touch up update; correcting a few things, filling out some tables and adding a few new definitions.

June 19th, 2015

Over a dozen slang terms have been given definitions, and a few pages were rewritten to be a little clearer or a little less pompus.

June 8th, 2015

Seven reviews have been added, as well as a few slang definitions.

May 23rd, 2015

Another batch of slang definitions has been uploaded.

May 15th, 2015

Three new reviews and a handful of slang definitions have been added!

May 9th, 2015

Tweaks are nearly done, and most of the new scripts are now online.

May 6th, 2015

Four new reviews have been added; it was going to be a larger update, but I noticed more time had passed than I really wanted to go between updates.

April 24th, 2015

Three new reviews are up. I'm also focusing on making some tweaks elsewhere on the site, so it's slowing me down a little.

April 18th, 2015

Added a page on future reviews.

April 17th, 2015

The rating system has been revamped in response to some useful feedback, so it should be clearer for everyone now.

April 14th, 2015

Five new reviews have been added, along with a handful of new slang definitions. Some of the scripts were also redone, so things should be easier to manage in the future. Specifically, the slang glossary was completely overhauled into a nice three column layout rather than the massive and intimidating list. I've also spotted a way to decrease some file sizes, which will make everything load faster.

April 7th, 2015

Site launches with three reviews, a bunch of slang terms defined, nine articles and many plans for the future!
