Does this game pose issues for Christian players?

Some players may have concerns
None of the spiders youre killing can actually harm you, so some people may view what youre doing as senseless or cruel. Another issue is that when playing in the Halloween mode, players finish the level by completing a magical ritual.

Game Overview

Kill it With Fire is what happens when you take a common phobia, first person shooter gameplay, and a whole lot of creative insanity and mix it all together. In other words, its a very silly game about killing lots of spiders with increasingly over the top weaponry like frying pans, lawnmowers, flamethrowers, silenced pistols, and rocket powered grenades.

Of course, if all you did was run around killing spiders, things would get repetitive rather quickly. Thats why every level has its own set of objectives for you to complete. In an unusual twist, players arent given a list of these objectives when the level begins. Instead, you need to explore and find the papers they are written on throughout the level. Most of the time, theyll be near the objects or areas where the task is performed, making them easy to spot.

Finding the spiders themselves can be a little more tricky. They can hide behind knicknacks, inside drawers, and under all sorts of things. After a while, youll probably start noticing a pattern behind their hiding spots, so it gets easier as you go. Spiders in this game also make faint chittering noises, which can help you narrow down where you need to look.

If all else fails, you can always use the spider detector - a sort of handheld radar that detects the presence of arachnids. At first its not worth much, but once youve located some upgrades, it takes all of the guesswork out of hunting down your prey.

Once the levels objectives have been completed, theres one last thing to do before moving on: the levels arachno-gauntlet. This is a timed challenge where you need to kill a certain number of spiders in a specific way. They arent easy, but completing them will unlock prizes in the post-game section.

If you enjoy humorous first person shooters or just really hate spiders, this is going to be a fun diversion. The biggest downside with this game is that its fairly short - youll burn through it in just a few hours. But if thats not an issue, Id suggest taking this title out for a spin.

Points of Interest

Anti-Phobia Features

Arachnopobia is probably one of the most common fears out there. Thankfully, the developers of this game have provided a small set of options to make this game more playable for those who cant handle the main objective. Turning off creepy spiders prevents the game from drawing or animating their legs, making them look more like little fluffballs. You can also disable their noises and startling sound effects, if you need to calm things down further.

Additional Collectibles

Every level in this game has a bunch of things for you to find and collect. There are batteries and upgrades for your spider detector, as well as new equipment and weapons. If youre trying to find everything, theres even a little progress indicator in the top left of the HUD that lets you know if theres anything youve missed.

Of particular interest are the Omega Files, which are secret documents that someone doesnt want discovered. Reading these is the only way to discover the games backstory.

10 Sprawling Levels

Your spider killing adventure starts in a quiet household, then continues through gardens, offices, stores, and eventually the underground bunker where extreme measures are being prepared against the arachnid menace. As a bonus, most levels can also be redressed for Halloween and Christmas, with their own holiday themed set of goals.

For extra fun, additional gameplay variants, such as Tiny Mode can be unlocked as a reward for completing several objectives.

Steam community features

Theres a set of Steam trading cards available for this game, as well as 47 unique achievements. Most of these achievements require the player to go out of their way to do something clever or interesting during a level, so unless youre really serious about experimenting with things, youll have a lot of work ahead of you if you want to collect them all.

Concerns and Issues

Lots of spider killing

Obviously, the entire point of the game is to kill as many spiders as you can. Dead spiders leave behind their curled up bodies and green blood splatters, which is as violent as things get.

Interestingly enough, the spiders cant actually fight back - none of them are ever able to harm the player, making this an entirely one sided battle.

Oddly enough, this goes against whats documented in the Omega Files - apparently several people were eaten by these harmless spiders.

Evil rituals

When playing in the Halloween mode, the levels arachno-gauntlet wont be triggered by interacting with a boombox. Instead, youll need to locate several magical crystals and complete a ritual by placing them in their proper place on a summoning circle. While its meant to look spooky, it doesnt seem to have any ties with real occult symbols or meanings.
