Glossary Entry: Generative AI

Definition

Generative AI refers to a relatively new type of computer program that can produce videos, images, or text based on a prompt entered by the user. Many can also take a source image as part of the prompt, allowing the AI to edit or enhance the image.

Some text-based AI tools are also designed to function as chatbots. This allows them to have an interactive conversation with the user instead of a single output.
