Definition
Emulation refers to the practice of using special programs, such as an emulator or virtual machine, to run software in a virtual environment. This is common with retro gaming, as it allows games for obsolete consoles and operating systems to still be playable.
IMPORTANT: in order to legally emulate something, you must have a valid license for the software you're running with it.
Emulating software without a valid license is a crime.
