Glossary Entry: Point and Click Adventure
Definition
Point and Click adventures are an older genre of video game where the player leads their character(s) around by clicking on interactive parts of the screen. Commonly, the mouse cursor changes its appearance to indicate when it's over something of interest, making it easier to figure out what you can click on.
Games in this genre are particularly known for having off-beat humor and lots of possible interactions that have no real use other than to amuse the player.
Unfortunately, this genre is also riddled with moon logic, as some developers had very weird ideas about what the player should know.
