Glossary Entry: PDF

Definition

A PDF is a special type of file that's designed to display and print the same way regardless of the system that uses it. Many PDFs are ebooks, printable forms, or other official documents.

The name itself is an acronym for Portable Document Format.

Unfortunately, they've developed a negative connotation, as it's relatively easy to accidentally stumble onto a PDF when browsing the internet, and as they can easily be several megabytes in size, your computer will appear to stall before you can hit the back button and continue browsing.
