Definition
Most of the streaming video you'll watch online was recorded and edited prior to being made available. A livestream, by contrast, is a streaming video that's being made available as it's being recorded - ie, you're watching it as it happens, much like a live television broadcast.
Many services that offer livestreaming also provide a chat room that the host and viewers can participate in during the broadcast.
