Glossary Entry: Reboot

Quick Definition

Rebooting a computer or device means to turn it off and then on again. This is commonly done to finish installing software or to correct problems that have developed. On the other hand, rebooting a series or franchise means the creators of that series are basically starting it over. Some elements from the original may be repeated, but essentially the story is being retold an could easily go in new directions.
