Glossary Entry: App store

Quick Definition

An App store is a regulated online marketplace where you can purchase and download Apps for your device. Common examples of an App store would include the Microsoft Store, Google Play, and Apple's App Store.

Importantly, an App store is run by the company that made your device. Thus, while they provide a similar service in almost the same way, neither Steam nor Origin are considered to be App stores.
