Glossary Entry: ALT-F4

Quick Definition

ALT-F4 is a keyboard shortcut that attempts to close the current program. In effect, this isn't that different from clicking on the X in the upper right hand corner of the program's window, as a frozen program won't respond to the shortcut.

It's a common prank in online games to convince less savvy users to press this key combination, tricking the victim into ejecting themselves from the game.
