Glossary Entry: Shareware

Quick Definition

This is a lenient form of license that some games are marketed under. You get to play part of the game (usually an episode or chapter) for free. To play through the rest of the game, you need to buy it.

Shareware games also encourage the player to spread the word and, as the name suggests, share copies of the free part of the game with friends.
