Glossary Entry: Quicksave

Quick Definition

Sometimes, the player needs a little extra protection in case something goes horribly wrong moments later. A quicksave is a useful feature in many games that allows the player to manually assign a checkpoint for themselves by hitting a special key on the keyboard. If things don't work out, they can reload the game from that checkpoint by just hitting another key.

Quicksaves are thus a means to quickly save the game. Note that many games don't keep saves made this way, so use an actual save to ensure your progress is recorded between sessions.
