Glossary Entry: Zero-Day Bug

Quick Definition

Some programs get released on a schedule rather than when they are finished, and as a result you get software that has a number of bugs when it first comes out. These can be serious or not, but it's generally preferable to make sure the first version of your software works as designed as people will remember that your product came broken.

These are known as "zero-day bugs" because they are bugs that have been present and known about before the program has been available for one day.
