Glossary Entry: Clipboard

The clipboard is an invisible piece of every operating system that can store any one piece of data. This data could be some text, an image or whatever data a program may choose to store there.

The purpose of the clipboard is to allow the user to copy or move information between programs or within parts of a program easily.
